I’ve heard the word “Koobface” multiple times this week, and you probably have to. Well, after having my curiosity piked, I’ve done a little research into what exactly “Koobface” is, and have to say, it’s a little scary! So what’s a Koobface (by the way, it sounds like a name my three year old would call someone)?
Well unfortunately it’s a computer virus that is being spread through every body’s favorite social network — Facebook. It’s being spread through the Facebook messaging systems, and while Facebook seems to have squashed the virus, that will be of little help to anyone already infected. FYI, Facebook says that a very small amount of its user base has been exposed.
However, If you ARE infected by Koobface, your computer and internet browser may be redirected when you try to use a popular search engine, like Google or Yahoo. So, if you notice yourself being redirected to unsavory websites, you may have contracted the Koobface virus, and should take care of that via anti software tools immediately.
